What Is Your Inner Animal Energy?

Personality Traits and Types

Published:

Forget the wild ones for a moment. The animals that tell you most about a person are the ones people live alongside every day, because everybody already knows exactly what they are like. Say somebody has cat energy and a room full of strangers will nod. Say somebody has dog energy and nobody needs the explanation. The shorthand works because these creatures have been sharing houses and fields with us for thousands of years, and their personalities are the most thoroughly documented in existence.

Cat Energy And Dog Energy Are Not About Friendliness

The lazy version of this says cat means aloof and dog means warm, which falls apart immediately. Some of the warmest people going have pure cat energy. The distinction is not warmth, it is consent. Cat energy decides when contact happens and finds being summoned faintly insulting. Dog energy gives first and asks later, arrives at full volume, and is genuinely delighted to see you every single time with no rationing whatsoever. A cat person can love you enormously and still want you to wait. That difference shapes friendships far more than whether someone is nice.

The Four Everybody Forgets

Horse energy is strength with a nervous system, powerful and capable and far more easily spooked than its size suggests. Raven energy is intelligence with a sense of humour, curious, a bit of a thief, always working on something. Bee energy is relentless useful industry, the person who has already done it while everyone else was discussing it. And snake energy is stillness and precision, minimal movement, nothing wasted, unsettling to people who mistake quiet for absence. Those four cover an enormous number of people who never saw themselves in the cat and dog binary.

Where Does Your Energy Go In A Crowd?

Fastest sorting question available. In a room of thirty people, dog energy is at the middle greeting everyone. Cat energy is at the edge, choosing one or two, entirely content. Horse energy is reading the room for exits and keeping a bit of space around itself. Raven energy is working out who is interesting and gravitating there. Bee energy has found the thing that needs doing and is doing it. And snake energy has not moved at all, and is being underestimated by about half the room.

What Each One Needs To Recharge

The recovery pattern is where these separate most usefully. Dog energy recharges with company and goes flat alone for too long, which surprises them every time. Cat energy recharges in silence and needs more of it than anybody realises. Horse energy needs movement, physical and immediate, and cannot think its way out of anything sitting down. Raven energy needs a new problem, since boredom is genuinely corrosive to them. Bee energy recharges by finishing something, which is why they cannot rest in an untidy house. And snake energy recharges by warmth and stillness and being completely unbothered for a while.

The Combinations Are The Interesting Bit

Most people are one dominant with a secondary, and the mix explains the contradictions. Cat with bee looks like someone independent who is nonetheless always producing something. Dog with horse is warm and easily startled, enormously loving and quick to bolt when overwhelmed. Raven with snake is quiet, watchful and about three moves ahead, which is a formidable combination and slightly alarming to be up against. Once you know both of yours, a lot of previously confusing behaviour starts making sense, including your own.

Answer for the version of you on an ordinary Wednesday rather than the version at your best, and see which energy has been running underneath.
